Zombies and Ninja's on Halloween? Sure!

Happy Halloween loves!

Ooga Booga! :-)

Unfortunately, I do not have costume for today like Muffy does. I have been completely and utterly emotionally and academically drained this week. Ugh. What stinks is that, I LOVE Halloween! I LOVE Haunted Houses too and I haven't had a chance to go to one of those either. Last year at this time, however, I was loving this holiday and was well prepared. Dan and I were the Flintstones - Wilma and Fred specifically. It was FABULOUS. I actually had pink hair... hot pink... I wanted red, but it came out pink - oh well! It was fab and I wish I could relive it.

Anyways, so what AM I doing today?

Well, I have class and work all day as usual, but then hopefully I will give out candy to trick or treaters which I never get to do. THEN, the best part is at MIDNIGHT, I am seeing a movie. A very special movie... basically, Dan is in it! He is an actor and this is his first movie. It's an independent film and it's called Ninja's Vs. Zombies.

If you are in the DC area or surrounding areas, you should totally check it out! They have both 9:00pm and 12:00am shows TONIGHT in Leesburg, VA at the Tally Ho Theater. They also (due to popular demand) have added a Saturday night showing at 10pm. This is a real local treat and will sure to be a hit! In fact, I was an extra in it! I'm not sure if I'll actually be in the film, but maybe! HAHA :-) (I was a dead zombie hehe). You know what the best part is? It's only $5! There is NO reason not to go!

Remember to check out this movie! It's a great way to spend Halloween! :-)

Have a Spookey Day!

Vote Nicely

Hi everyone!

I have a beef to pick - but do NOT worry because it's not with you or my typical readers. It's the fact that, as a McCain supporter, I do not feel comfortable telling people my political views anymore. So much so that I'm afraid I'll get stepped on by the people in my real life. I have yet to meet anyone in my academic department who is supporting McCain... therefore, I am choosing just not to say anything about it. I would prefer no talks or no discussion. In fact, when I ask someone "who are you voting for?" or they ask me who I am voting for, I simply add a disclaimer (IF I decide to tell them). My disclaimer is: "Well, I will tell you, but I do not want any debates about it." This does not mean that I am weak or I really don't know my politics. It simply means that I do not have the time right now to debate with you AND I am not a good debater. There have been many times in the past few weeks that I have felt victimized by the fact that I am voting the way I am. One time, I even had a girl yell at me for an hour about why I should vote for Obama... EVEN though, I never told her who I was voting for! For all she knew, I could have been voting for him. Oh, and recently, my mom (who lives in Ohio) told me that her Republican signs were stolen from her front yard. I'm sorry, but whatever happened to freedom of speech? I am just sick of it. I just wish that we would all respect each others opinions. I more just want to advocate for VOTING in general... You just need to VOTE... let's not debate about who is better (unless we're in the blogging world - blog away your opinions because they are interesting and it's the readers choice to read them!).

Quarter Life

Hello my friends,

Recently, I have come to the conclusion that I am having a Quarter Life Crisis.

What is a Quarter Life Crisis you ask? Well, according to Quarterlife Crisis (a one-stop info-shop for recent grads & beyond) it's:
"...essentially a period of anxiety, uncertainty and inner turmoil that often accompanies the transition to adulthood."

This is totally ME! Ugh. Is anyone else going through this? Do you think our parents went through it? I don't. I feel like our parents (mine are in their mid-50's) went from college to work... and usually stayed at that first job for a very long time. Maybe it's a good thing we are having it so early and therefore avoiding the mid-life crisis? One can only hope because, in my opinion ONE CRISIS is enough in ONE lifetime!

Is anyone else feeling the same way?

Just One of Those Days...

...that you can only find ONE of every pair of shoe you would consider wearing...

...that you sent out the most important email in your academic career and they never received it...

...that the fax machine just decided not to work...

...that's dark and gloomy outside...

...that you only brought a bowl of soup to eat and instead got very hungry and ate too many cheese puffs and Snickers that were on the "for everyone" table...

...that you're reconsidering your life and the direction it's going in...

...that you realized you forgot to buy something (small but VERY important) at the grocery store yesterday and now have to make a separate trip...

...that you are kicking yourself for not bring your fabulous yellow Marc Jacobs umbrella...

La La Lyrics

Hi all,

I normally am not this depressing. I promise. But, I can't lie and say that things are good because they aren't. Hopefully they will get better, until then, I want to share with you my current favorite song. It's by Secondhand Serende. I just love it... it's all over the radio so I'm sure you've heard it:

The best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting
Could it be that we have been this way before?
I know you don't think that I am trying
I know you're wearing thin down to the core

But hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind

Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you's impossible to find
You're impossible to find

This is not what I intended
I always swore to you I'd never fall apart
You always thought that I was stronger
I may have failed, but I have loved you from the start

Oh, but hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind

Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you's impossible to find
It's impossible

So breathe in so deep
Breathe me in, I'm yours to keep
And hold on to your words 'cause talk is cheap
And remember me tonight when you're asleep

Because tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind

Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you's impossible to find

Tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind

Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you's impossible to find
You're impossible to find

That's all folks. Maybe I'm emo-ish tonight... not sure. I think those lyrics are good and strong. Don't you just love that song?

Okay, okay... I know that was depressing so, it order to even it out here is a silly random picture called "Silly Scallions":

Good night,

Maybe

Maybe it's not right. Maybe it is. Maybe we need this break to see if it's right. Maybe it's a mistake. Maybe it isn't. Maybe we'll never be together again. Maybe we'll get married. Maybe I'm losing my best friend forever. Maybe I'll find someone new. Maybe he will. Maybe I love him. Maybe I will always love him. Maybe I won't.

So many "maybes". I'm so confused. The only thing that's certain is that he's the best person I've ever met. I'm just lost.

Not much more to say.

Vibrating Mascara?!?! What?!?! This confuses me...

Lancome has come out with VIBRATING MASCARA people. Yes, you heard correctly. Apparently, you push a button and the mascara vibrates to form the mascara around the lashes 360 degrees! Wow! I really want some...

However,

According to People Style Watch, there is a waiting list which includes about 21,000 people! Whaaaaaat?!?! I wish I could buy it. I want to try it! I want to REVIEW it! I want to feel the vibrations people! Grrr... oh the frustrations.

Has ANYone tried this?! If so, please spill!

P.S. PLEASE vote for your favorite pumpkin, pumpkin! ;-)

Blog Technical Question

Hi everyone,

Quick question:

My log-in email address is my personal email address (not wearingmascara@gmail.com).

I would like wearingmascara@gmail.com to become my log-in and the address associated with this blog. Does anyone know how to do this? Have searched the forums and have come up with nothing! Thanks in advance! :-)

Tag-alicious

Hi all!
The lovely Pink Cupcake tagged me to list my favorites! Thank you for thinking of me PC :-)

Clothes shop:

This is a toughie because I have many "go-to" stores for different things.

For jeans: The Buckle (not located everywhere... check out there website to see if they are near you!) They have an amazing selection of jeans!

For shoes: I really love Naturalizer and I only recently discovered it. Before, I thought they did not have cute styles or that they were for "old ladies" but I realized that they have really cute styles! It's perfect for me because it's really difficult for me to wear heels comfortably. It stinks because I love heels and I think they are fabulous! If I could, I'd wear shoes from Aldo, but they are never comfortable!

Favorite clothes store: Express because whenever I can't find anything at other stores, I can always find something at Express!

Furniture Shop:

Call me old fashioned, but I love estate sales. My mom and I used to go every Saturday morning to find "treasures". If we found an amazing piece of furniture, we would fix it up like new!

City:

Pittsburgh, PA - where I was born! The people there have so much soul and pride for their city. I just love it there. It was also voted as one of the best places to drive!

Sweets:

Anything gummy or really sugary (gummy bears, lolly pops, etc) or chocolate cookie cake (below is Dan's birthday cookie cake for his birthday this summer! YUM!)

Drink:

Diet 7up, Hefervisen Beer (from a brewery), Water

Music:

Country

TV:

Reality shows (The Hills, Project Runway), Gossip Girl, The L Word, among others

Workout:

Running - especially when I'm in training for a race!

Pastries:

Oh dear.. Um... anything really sugary and chocolaty! I do prefer salty over sweet though so if I was at, let's say, Panera, I would order an everything or a chocolate chip bagel with cream cheese!

Coffee:

From Starbucks, I always order a tall vanilla or cinnamon "skinny" latte... "In season" I LOVE the Pumpkin Spice latte... Typically though, I make my own coffee using fat free vanilla Coffee Mate and some cinnamon (Starbucks is expensive!)

I'm gonna tag: steak&cakes and Perks of Being a JAP because they are both awesome bloggers and I want to see what their favorites are!

I'm Starting to Realize...

...that I am the most picky person ever when it comes to fashion.

Here's what I like:

- unique
- laid back
- color
- hobo-ish
- simple

Yea, I know, I have "simple" and "unique" on the same list. Hard to come by right? Anyways, in my search for a coat, I came across this baby:

It's:

- unique
- laid back
- has color
- simple
- and can go with hobo-y things

I decided to buy it through Smart Bargains and got a sweet deal! I am *hoping* it fits! I never know because I'm curvy... but I can always return it! So, we'll see...

Tidbits as of Lately

Hiiii,

Okay I know I've been MIA lately BUT, I have been keeping up on my blog readings - I promise! I've been INCREDIBLY busy with school and other things. I just wanted to share some highlights of what I've been up to recently:

Last Saturday night, I went to a beast cancer benefit thrown by a friends sorority. It was really a blast! There were a ton of vender's selling makeup, hair supplies/hair consultations, jewelry, and food - the best part is that all or most of the proceeds went to breast cancer research! The first 20 people got these free makeup bags that had a ton of full-sized goodies like Mary Kay lotion and Clinique eye shadow.

"Babes for a Cure"

TONS of jewelry to be sold!

This amazing cake was donated by a local bakery.

I thought this was funny and clever!

Also this weekend, Dan stayed over. In the morning, we went for a bike ride and had an excellent time. However, when we got back, his car looked like this:

Somebody slammed into it and did not leave a note. I just don't understand people these days. Why won't they just own up for mistakes? Poor Dan :-(

In other news, I went shopping Monday night (even though I was SUPER stressed and had too much work to do... maybe this was a coping mechanism?) and bought some very cute and unique nail polish from OPI:

The darker is a "You Don't Know Jacques" and the bluish green is "Hey! Get in Lime!"

Maaaaan if I could, I would:

- create my own nail polish color
- name it something creative - how cool would that be??

I hope everyone's Wednesday was great! Talk to you soon.

Completely Enraged

Hi,

I just need to vent because I just saw something horrible driving home from DC today. Basically, I saw an adult male beating up his child as a woman held another child close (probably to protect them?). It was the most DISGUSTING thing I have ever seen! Now, I am not an idiot - I know that child abuse happens but it's SO difficult to see it take place in front of your eyes. The man was beating the kid against a fence. BEATING HIM. SHOVING HIM with so much force. I saw a police officer nearby (in passing) and slowed down to tell him that an adult male was abusing his child just around the corner. The officer took it pretty seriously (thank goodness!) and went to look for them.

After I told the cop, I started balling my eyes out. I called my mom and Dan and told them what I saw.

I just really, really hope that those children are safe tonight.

Thanks for listening,

wm

Which Look Are You? Serena, Blair or Jenny?

Hi all!

Note: I started this post on Monday and didn't see Nautical by Nature's post until today about the same topic! I feel a little silly posting about it, but I figured I'd go ahead anyways. I hope you like!

I don't know about you, but before Project Runway, I had NO clue what Bluefly was. Then I started seeing all the funny/racy/interesting commercials about Bluefly. "Always there, when you've got nothing to wear." Some people like, it (me), some people don't (my roommate) but either way, they definitely get your attention:

I haven't bought anything from there yet, but today, I was pleasantly surprised. They did a feature on Gossip Girl and they show you examples of what's in her (Serena, Blair, or Jenny's) or his (Nate, Chuck, Dan's) closet. Here are my favorite items from each girl:

Serena:

I love Serena's laid back stylish style! She seems to effortless and chick at the same time! Here are some Serena-ish things to add to your wardrobe:

This coat Michael Kors black quilted down jacket SCREAMS hot biker chick!

Nothing is more laid back and sexy than this Karoo cardigan! I love the neckline!

Hello lover! Aren't these Charles David "Misha" ankle books just amazing? Ahhh!
You all knew I have to discuss a bag! This Prada black and gold "Nappa Stripes" tote is so cute and PERFECT for football season! Here we go Steelers!'

Jenny:
I love Jenny's evolving style and that her character is a growing fashion designer! Hello trend-setter (don't you LOVE the purple bag in the picture above??).

I want to take this Priorities burgundy "Hallie" coat off my computer and put it on!
Ahhh! This Pedro Garcia gold shoe just screams New Years! (Is it crazy that I'm already thinking about my New Years Eve outfit?!)

So simple. So chick. So Jenny. These Grace Chan red earrings ROCK! (and they go perfectly with her coat above!)

Jenny is all about her cute hats! This Marc by Marc Jacobs beret is so cute that maybe I'll start wearing them!

Blair
She is pure elegance and the definition of the upper east side. She always looks put together which is maybe because her personal life isn't always put together? It's all about the outside looking in.

This Nanette Lepore black skirt is so cute! You could wear it with so many things!

This Michael Kors belt is adorable! AND only for $25 on sale! Can't beat that... and we all know Blair loves color!

Love the bow for Blair! So her. This Felix Rey gold purse is so cute!

I love Marc by Marc Jacobs AND the color red! So these red bow pumps are PERFECT! (um and they totally match the belt above!)

I hope you enjoyed this post about my favorite items in the Gossip Girl's "closet"! Happy shopping!

You know you love me ;-)

xoxo,
